A Basic Education

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy and creative expression and knowledge.
                                                                                                       -  Albert Einstein

Everyone agrees that: teachers are an important presence in our culture. Pick a community activity of import, a cause of societal and often global impact, and you're bound to find a teacher or educator at the core. Educators, as a group, are concerned with fundamental human issues and have an impact in our culture that goes beyond their current students. If we are to have peace, we must teach our children in the spirit of peaceful interaction and the many possibilities before them. Candace Hanley, Executive Director of the Foundation, and the Trustees selected teachers as the group which might best impact their communities and have a powerful 'ripple effect' toward peace.

As such, Lifespring devoted a series of its foundation trainings to be available specifically for teachers. The Foundation opened its doors to those educators wishing to explore the possibilities available in their role as teachers, and celebrate their commitment to a world of possibilities.

What impact has their experience had on them as individuals, as teachers with their students, in their families, and in their professional development? We asked graduates of the Lifespring Educators Basic from around the country what they found valuable in their experience of the Training. What we took away from these conversations was a sense of committed aliveness and real enthusiasm for what they learned and what they now have to offer their students and others in their lives.
