Prison Work Stories
John H.
John H. was serving a 20 to 40-year sentence
for second-degree murder when he participated in The Foundation's
first training at Fort Grant. For him, it was the turning point
of his life. John credits the training with "... making me
accept the fact that I was OK. It made me search myself and find
out I was not as bad as I thought I was, while making me aware that
I am totally accountable for everything I do. I can't blame my problems
on anyone else."
John left Fort Grant one month later on a
work furlough program and immediately took Lifespring's Advanced Course and
TC (Lifespring Training Coordinator Program) trainings. Shortly
afterward, he was placed on parole and, six months later, John was
appointed State Director of the Seventh Step Foundation of Arizona,
a nonprofit organization which runs programs inside prison walls
and helps ex-offenders.
